Awesome concept, possibly better for slightly older preschoolers

Purchased this for my three year old for Christmas, since she adores her nesting fir tree. Unfortunately, the apples aren't a standard size, so they can't be used interchangeably in any of the four apple "slots" ... or even in any order in the slot from which they were removed. Some are markedly larger and more oddly shaped than the others and will only fit in one specific position in one specific slot, which can be frustrating for a younger child. If it were more uniform, with each slot and set of apples increasingly larger or smaller, I'd actually appreciate the challenge. But it's random enough that I assume it's simply an unintentional result of the manufacturing process. Still a fun, adorable set! Just noting for those with children who might be frustrated by this.
